Football Group

Our Football Group is back on the pitch!!! However this is currently non contact with other guidelines in place to keep all participants safe.

Our Football Group is part of Falkirk Users Soccer Experience (F.U.S.E) with us working in partnership with Woodlands Resource Centre and Bellsdyke Hospital.  We are currently receiving coaching sessions with Stenhousmuir Football Club on:

  • Friday – 3.30pm – 4.30pm (Main Pitch)

The football group is non gender specific and the aim of the project is for football to help in people’s recovery as it can help to manage symptoms and can radically improve the quality of people’s lives.  There are three key ways that football can help:

  • Delivering social inclusion
  • Helping physical health and well being
  • Improving peoples mental health

Our group is also part of the Scottish Football Associations Mental Health and Wellbeing League which takes place at different venues throughout Scotland.

Without exception, our current group members have reported significant improvement in their physical and mental health whilst attending the group .  Football as a whole is also very successful in engaging young adults who wouldn’t attend a ‘typical’ mental health service due to the stigma attached and their preconceived perceptions.
